Wastewater from the University Hospital and laboratories is delivered to the sewage treatment plant in the Center for Medical Waste Management. The sewage treatment processes include settlement in a pool, activated sludge treatment with anaerobic and aerobic bacteria, sedimentation, coagulation, and filtration with sand and activated carbon. The treated wastewater is subjected to water examination before it is discharged into the public sewer.
Waste organic solvents, waste acid and alkaline solutions, unused chemicals, and failed apparatuses are collected at this center; the disposal of those wastes is outsourced.
Moreover, lectures on effluent treatment and separation of waste are provided to both students and staff.
